Sustainability — Bali Photoshoot’s Environmental & Community Commitments

Sustainability & Community Impact: Our Commitment to ‘Tri Hita Karana’

Our work is intrinsically linked to the stunning natural beauty and vibrant culture of Indonesia. We believe it is our fundamental responsibility to be conscientious stewards of these precious resources. Our sustainability and community impact strategy is guided by the Balinese philosophy of Tri Hita Karana — the three causes of well-being: harmony with God, harmony among people, and harmony with nature. This ancient wisdom informs our modern business practices.

Environmental Stewardship

We are committed to minimizing our ecological footprint and actively contributing to the conservation of Indonesia’s unique ecosystems.

  • Carbon Neutral Operations: We meticulously track all carbon emissions from our vehicle and boat transport. We then offset 100% of this footprint by purchasing certified carbon credits from the Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve Project in Borneo, which protects vital orangutan habitat.
  • Strict No Single-Use Plastic Policy: We have eliminated single-use plastic water bottles from all our operations. Clients are provided with reusable, insulated flasks and a continuous supply of purified water. All catering is sourced from partners who use non-plastic, biodegradable packaging.
  • Marine Conservation Contribution: For every photoshoot that takes place on or near the ocean, we donate a percentage of the proceeds to the Coral Triangle Center in Sanur, Bali, supporting their work in marine conservation and sustainable coastal management.
  • ‘Leave No Trace’ Principle: Our teams are rigorously trained in ‘Leave No Trace’ ethics. We ensure that our presence in natural settings, from remote beaches to pristine jungles, is ephemeral, leaving them exactly as we found them.

Community Empowerment & Cultural Preservation

Our business is part of the local community, and we are dedicated to its social and economic well-being.

  • Prioritizing Local Employment: Over 95% of our on-the-ground team, including our concierges, drivers, guides, and assistants, are hired from local Indonesian communities. We are committed to fair wages, comprehensive benefits (including BPJS insurance), and continuous professional development.
  • Supporting Local Artisans and Entrepreneurs: We actively build partnerships with local businesses. Wardrobe for shoots can be sourced from Balinese designers, props are acquired from craft villages like Celuk (silver) or Tenganan (textiles), and catering is provided by local warungs or community-owned cafes.
  • Direct Community Support through The Juara Foundation: A portion of our annual profits is channeled through the Juara Holding Group’s foundation to support a targeted community project. Our current focus is on providing educational supplies and funding for English language teachers at a primary school in the village of Munduk, North Bali.
  • Respectful Cultural Engagement: We work closely with local village councils (banjar) and temple custodians (pemangku) to ensure our photoshoots are conducted with the utmost respect for sacred sites and local customs. This often includes making appropriate donations (punia) that directly support the community.
